Product Description

Straight multi-unit abutments lack any anti-rotational features at the implant-abutment interface. The apical portion of a straight multi-unit abutment is threaded for attachment with the internal connection of a seated implant. For abutment delivery, the occlusal surface features a male hex head compatible with the Inclusive Multi-Unit Driver.

Inclusive Multi-Unit Abutments are prefabricated, screw-retained intraoral abutments intended to be connected directly to endosseous implants in partially or fully edentulous patients for the retention of cast or milled bar overdentures. For implant-supported prostheses, six or more implants are recommended in the maxilla, four or more in the mandible. If clinical conditions dictate fewer implants, an implant-retained, tissue-supported prostheses is indicated. Multi-unit abutments are precisely machined from titanium alloy, and are available with a variety of collar heights to achieve optimal emergence from shallow or deep gingival wells. Each Inclusive Multi-Unit Abutment is shipped with a delivery carrier color-coded to indicate the restorative platform of the seated implant.

Angled multi-unit abutments of 17 degrees or 30 degrees enable clinicians to compensate for the divergence of seated implants or to otherwise accommodate an angled path of insertion. Angled multi-unit abutments feature an anti-rotational connection interface specific to the matching implant platform, and are attached to the implant fixture with an angled multi-unit abutment screw.

Both straight and angled multi-unit abutments feature a female connection port at the coronal apex, to allow for the attachment of a screw-retained or fixed-removable dental prosthesis with a multi-unit restorative screw (Inclusive Prosthetic Screw).

Key Features of Multi-Unit Abutments for Straumann

Designed for Full-Arch and Multiple Implants

● Multi-unit abutments are particularly useful in cases where several implants are placed in the jaw (e.g., full-arch restorations like All-on-4 or All-on-6).

● These abutments allow the dentist to restore multiple implants with a single, unified restoration (e.g., a bridge), improving efficiency and simplifying the restoration process.

Angulation Correction

● Straumann's multi-unit abutments can correct the angulation of the implant, allowing the final restoration to be positioned properly even if the implants were not placed at the ideal angle.

● This is especially important when implants are placed at an angle to avoid anatomical obstacles (e.g., nerves, sinuses), and it helps avoid the need for additional procedures like bone grafting.

Multiple Angles Available

● Straumann offers multi-unit abutments in various angulations (typically ranging from 0° to 30°), giving clinicians the flexibility to adjust the final positioning of the restoration.

● This versatility is essential for achieving both functional and aesthetic outcomes, especially when the implant placement is not ideal.

Secure and Stable Platform

● The Straumann Multi-Unit Abutment is designed to provide a stable and secure platform for the final restoration (such as a crown, bridge, or overdenture). It allows for the accurate seating of the restoration and ensures long-term stability.

● The abutment is compatible with Straumann implants and the Straumann implant system, ensuring that all components work seamlessly together.

Material and Durability

● Straumann typically manufactures their multi-unit abutments from titanium, which is strong, biocompatible, and durable.

● The material also ensures that the abutments are able to withstand the stresses of chewing and daily use without compromising on performance.

Improved Aesthetics and Functionality

● By correcting implant angulation, the multi-unit abutment helps position the restoration in the optimal location, ensuring better esthetics (such as proper alignment of teeth) and more efficient function (like improved bite and chewing).

● The design also reduces the risk of complications, such as the implant crown or bridge misaligning over time.

Indications for Use

Full Arch Restorations

When restoring an entire arch (upper or lower) with multiple implants, these abutments help achieve a stable foundation for a fixed bridge or a similar restoration.

Implant Bridges

For patients with multiple missing teeth, these abutments help in placing bridges over multiple implants, correcting any misalignment or angulation.

Implants in Complicated Areas

When implants are placed in challenging anatomical areas (e.g., near the sinus or nerve), these abutments can help adjust the angulation of the final restoration.

Benefits of the Straumann Multi-Unit Abutment

Improved Accuracy

The system allows for more precise positioning of restorations, leading to better outcomes.

Fewer Surgical Steps

In many cases, the use of these abutments can reduce the need for additional surgical procedures (e.g., bone grafting or sinus lifts) to achieve the ideal implant position.

Reduced Chair Time

By simplifying the process of implant restoration, multi-unit abutments can reduce the amount of time a patient needs to spend in the dental chair.

Better Esthetics and Function

The ability to correct implant angulation helps achieve both a functional and aesthetically pleasing result, particularly in cases with challenging anatomy.

FAQ

Q: How to place Straumann multi-unit abutment?

A: The straight multi-unit abutment is screwed into the implant with the placement instrument 0-13-76. Once the multi-unit abutment has been posi- tioned, the restoration treatment is continued. After impression taking, the clinical situation is transferred in the lab to the master cast model.

Q: What is a multi-unit implant abutment?

A: Multi-unit abutments (MUA) are specialized abutments that are commonly used in coordination with zygomatic dental implants, as well as full arch replacements, which are also known as all-on-four dental implants. MUA are available in a variety of sizes and angulations.

Q: Are all multiunit abutments the same?

A: In terms of angled multi-unit abutments, certain angulations are found commonly across most implant brands: 0°, 17°, 30°, and 45°. You may also come across less common sizes that are reserved for more specialized restorations, such as 52.5° and 60°.

Q: What is the torque on a multiunit abutment?

A: Tighten the abutment to 35 Ncm using Unigrip™ Screwdriver and Manual Torque Wrench prosthetic (C). Caution: Never exceed recommended maximum 35 Ncm tightening torque for the abut- ment screw. Overtightening of abutment may lead to a screw fracture.

Q: Why is it called a multi-unit abutment?

A: An MUA is a specialized abutment commonly used with zygomatic dental implants and full arch replacements (all-on-four dental implants). A multi-unit abutment addresses cases where two or more dental implants are placed near each other, typically when replacing multiple missing teeth in a row.
