The Material of Titanium Alloy Grade 5 Ti-6Al-4V ELI

Made of Titanium alloy Ti-6Al-4V ELI, a material that combines properties such as low specific weight, high strength-to-weight ratio, very high corrosion resistance, and excellent general biocompatibility.

Ti-6Al-4V ELI is very similar to Ti-6Al-4V, except that Ti-6Al-4V ELI contains reduced levels of oxygen, nitrogen, carbon, and iron.

ELI is short for "Extra Low Interstitials", and these lower interstitials provide improved ductility and better fracture toughness for the material. Ti-6Al-4V ELI has proven to be highly successful in the fabrication of dental prosthetics.

What is Cylinder Multi Unit Temporary Abutment for Osstem?

Cylinder Multi-Unit Temporary Abutment from Osstem is a specific type of temporary abutment designed for use in multi-implant restoration procedures, particularly in the case of multi-unit dental implants. Here's a detailed breakdown of what it is and its purpose:

Osstem Implant System

Osstem is a well-known dental implant company that offers a variety of implant solutions, including the multi-unit system for patients requiring multiple implants, typically to support larger restorations such as bridges, dentures, or fixed prosthetics.

Multi-Unit System

● The multi-unit implant system refers to placing multiple implants in a patient's jaw to support a full bridge or similar restoration. These implants are often strategically placed to offer maximum support for the final restoration.

● In multi-unit restorations, the implants are connected to each other via abutments. These abutments play a key role in supporting the final prosthesis.

Cylinder Multi-Unit Temporary Abutment

● The Cylinder Multi-Unit Temporary Abutment is designed to be used temporarily after the placement of multiple implants in a patient's mouth.

● It connects to the implant body through a multi-unit interface (often hexagonal or octagonal in shape) and is used during the healing phase when a provisional restoration (temporary bridge or crowns) is placed on the abutments.

● It is a temporary solution that provides support for the soft tissue, stabilizes the provisional restoration, and helps shape the gum tissue as the patient waits for their final, permanent restorations.

Key Features

Temporary Nature

As the name suggests, this abutment is not permanent. It is removed once the implants have integrated with the bone (osseointegration), and the permanent abutments are placed.

Design

The design is usually a cylindrical shape, which makes it compatible with the Osstem multi-unit platform, and it fits securely over the implant post. It is typically made of titanium or another biocompatible material.

Support for Provisional Restoration

The cylinder allows the dentist to attach a temporary prosthesis, such as a temporary bridge or crowns, while the patient waits for the final, permanent restoration.

Benefits
1

Soft Tissue Contouring: It helps contour the soft tissue around the implants as it heals, ensuring that the gum line will look natural when the final abutments and restorations are placed.

2

Stability: It stabilizes the temporary prosthesis, providing better function and aesthetics while the implants are healing.

3

Aesthetics and Comfort: While the permanent restorations are being prepared, the temporary abutment allows for a functional and aesthetically acceptable solution, so the patient can maintain a normal appearance and function.

4

After the multi-unit implants are placed in the patient's jaw, the cylinder temporary abutments are attached to each implant, and the provisional restoration (e.g., temporary bridge) is secured to them.

5

Once the healing process is complete, and the implants have fully integrated with the bone, the temporary abutments are removed, and permanent abutments and restorations are fitted.
