Oral implants are devices designed to implant artificial materials into the maxillary or mandibular jawbone or on the jawbone surface by surgical means in order to support the upper structure of denture restoration.
At present, there is no unified classification standard for oral implants. People usually classify them according to the implantation site or implant shape.
Classification by site:
1. Endosseous implants are the most widely used type of implants in clinical practice.
2. Subperiosteal implants.
3. Intra-root bone implants.
4. Intramucosal implants.
According to implant materials:
1. Ceramics.
2. Carbon material implants.
3. Polymer material implants.
4. Composite material implants.
According to the number of surgeries, they can be divided into one-stage implants and two-stage implants.
